Mr. Kaplan represents the firm’s clients in all aspects of the Workers’ Compensation Law. His defense of carriers and self insured employers includes all initial evaluation of issues of controversy, WCL section 114a, Uninsured Employers' Fund issues and the Volunteer Firefighters and Ambulance Workers Laws. He has 30 years experience evaluating cases, valuing claims relative to settlement and litigating all issues arising out of a claim.
Before joining the firm's predecessor, Mr. Kaplan represented injured workers from 1983 to 1988. Prior to that, he negotiated labor contracts and litigated labor arbitrations. During law school, he represented employers at Unemployment Insurance hearings and trials. He is involved in litigation strategy for Section 114a issues as well as for high exposure files, assisting in valuation, settlement and trial work.
Over the years he has been involved in numerous political campaigns primarily assisting in fundraising.
Mr. Kaplan is a member of the American Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association's Torts, Insurance, and Compensation Law Section, and the Monroe County Bar Association.
