One of our conditional payment experts, Attorney Erin Belka, reports a case in which the client’s initial vendor analyst simply reviewed the ICD-10 codes and advised the client to pay the conditional payment claim. Fortunately, the client referred the case to our firm for a second opinion. Erin reports that we did the necessary work of analyzing the big picture and making legal arguments, not just stopping at reviewing the codes. We filed a request for redetermination, and at the first level of appeal our firm won a fully favorable decision and saved our client $72,134.97.
Hamberger and Weiss welcomes conditional payment work and stands ready to apply our legal expertise to take a second look if necessary, as we did in this case, to maximize the savings to our clients.
